Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Consultant Pharmacist to join our team in Corpus Christi, TX for a part-time position in the Long Term Care sector. This role is ideal for a pharmacist looking to make a meaningful impact on patient care in long-term care settings. The Consultant Pharmacist will work closely with healthcare teams to ensure optimal medication management and compliance with regulations, providing professional consultation and expert advice on pharmaceutical care for our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and monitor patient medication regimens in long-term care facilities to ensure appropriateness and safety.
- Provide guidance on medication therapy management to healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, and facility staff.
- Conduct medication regimen reviews (MRRs) and provide recommendations for adjustments or alternative therapies.
- Assist in the development and implementation of care plans, ensuring they are aligned with the best clinical practices.
- Offer consultations on regulatory compliance related to pharmaceutical practices in long-term care settings.
- Educate staff and patients on proper medication use, safety, and potential side effects.
- Stay current on updates to state and federal regulations affecting pharmacy practice in long-term care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize therapeutic outcomes and enhance patient care.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement programs related to medication management.
- Document and report all activities related to patient care and medication therapy.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Current and valid Texas pharmacist license.
- Experience in long-term care pharmacy or related settings is preferred.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy regulations and medication management in long-term care environments.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a healthcare team.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.

Educational Qualifications:
